For treatment today, many follow the theory that water has a soothing, relaxing and calming effect on people which helps reduce stress and other emotional burdens. Exercise in water helps takes off weight and pressure off joints that are in pain but still providing the resistance to help build muscles. Hydrotherapy uses water to help provide limited pain relief and treatment. It also takes advantage of the physical properties of water such as its temperature and its pressure for means of physical therapy to help stimulate blood circulation and help relieve symptoms of certain diseases a patient may be suffering as a result.
